Agony Aunts > Family

Cousins
We have decided due to numbers that cousins will only be invited to the evening reception of our wedding. However, one of my fiance's cousins lives in Derberyshire which is about a 3 hour drive away. We both agree that it would be ridiculous to expect him and his wife to travel to the venue simply for the evening. As a result we are thinking of inviting him to the daytime. My fiance also thinks that by inviting this cousin, and not his sister and her partner will prove awkward and they will not come. They live about an hour away. I have an issue with this since although I am not paricularly close to my cousins it feels awkward that one side of the family is treated differently to the other. Can you make any suggestions on how to handle this?

I understand why you have decided not to invite extended family as this would probably double your guest list. I also can see why you would invite that particular cousin as they live 3 hours away. I am sure your other cousins in both families will understand this. However I am not sure that your fiances sister will. This will cause problems - if I was his sister I would be upset. I think you could possibly reconsider your fiances sister regardless of the situation with his cousin. Good Luck MRS S
